Forest Hill Duplex
Project Brief
Creating privacy for this Forest Hill duplex in the heart of Toronto, required careful planning and expert execution, as the property faced unique challenges from neighboring apartment buildings and very limited site access. The client’s goal was to transform the outdoor space into a serene, private retreat while maintaining functionality and aesthetic appeal—a task that demanded both creativity and precision.
A key element of the design was the installation of 14-foot-tall cedar trees along the property borders. These mature evergreens, combined with additional large-scale plantings, serve as natural barriers that provide seclusion without compromising beauty. While such substantial landscaping presented logistical challenges, our team utilized specialized equipment and advanced techniques to safely and efficiently integrate these features into the site.
Beyond privacy, the landscape design focused on creating a luxurious and functional outdoor environment. Carefully selected plant species, layered planting strategies, and complementary hardscaping were used to frame the duplex, enhance visual appeal, and create a cohesive design that feels both intimate and expansive. Every element was curated to ensure that the users of this space could enjoy the outdoors in comfort, shielded from surrounding urban structures.
This Forest Hill duplex project exemplifies how high-end urban landscaping can overcome complex site limitations while delivering elegance, comfort, and usability. By balancing innovative problem-solving with meticulous craftsmanship, we were able to achieve the client’s vision without compromise.
The result is a private, sophisticated outdoor sanctuary within a dense urban Toronto environment—showcasing the potential of thoughtful, luxury landscaping to transform challenging properties into serene, functional retreats that homeowners can enjoy for years to come.
