Our Story
Parkscape was founded in 2014 with a clear vision: to elevate outdoor living through thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and a deeply rooted passion for the landscape. That passion began long before the company itself with Matt Over—shaped in his early teenage years spent working alongside family, cutting grass, tending gardens, and learning firsthand the rhythms of the seasons. What started as a simple routine quickly evolved into something more meaningful, as small neighborhood jobs turned into the first steps of a lifelong pursuit.
Those early experiences built a strong foundation. From planting tulip bulbs in the fall to preparing spring arrangements timed perfectly for Mother’s Day, an appreciation for detail, patience, and timing took hold.
By age 16, that passion expanded into professional experience at a local nursery, where countless hours were spent learning every aspect of plant care and seasonal preparation. Over time, that hands-on work translated into deep horticultural knowledge—shaped by planting tens of thousands of arrangements and understanding what makes a landscape truly thrive.
After graduating from the University of Guelph, Matt’s journey continued into the construction industry, beginning as an Assistant Project Manager with a home builder. It was here that technical expertise met creative vision—managing landscape trades, coordinating large-scale projects, and eventually overseeing a landscaping division focused on custom homes. These experiences provided invaluable insight into both the art and execution of landscape design.
With encouragement from trusted industry relationships, Parkscape was established—built on a commitment to quality, integrity, and a genuine love for outdoor spaces. That same year marked an important milestone with the introduction of James Zink as Lead Designer, bringing a refined design perspective that helped shape the company’s aesthetic and approach from the very beginning.
What began as a small, trusted operation has since grown into a team of 40 dedicated professionals. Despite that growth, the core philosophy remains unchanged: every project is approached with the same care, creativity, and attention to detail that defined those early days.
Today, Parkscape continues to design and build exceptional landscapes across Toronto, blending natural elements with modern innovation. From elegant stonework and custom patios to water features, softscapes, and complete outdoor transformations, each project is an opportunity to create something lasting—spaces that are not only beautiful, but deeply personal.
Our Process
Concept Development
After reviewing your space and vision, we create a detailed landscape design that thoughtfully integrates your ideas with the unique characteristics of your property. Using both 2D plans and 3D modeling, we bring your project to life with clear, realistic visualizations that allow you to fully experience the proposed layout and features before construction begins. We collaborate closely with you throughout this phase, refining each element and incorporating your feedback to ensure the final concept aligns seamlessly with your goals, preferences, and intended use of the space.
Construction Phase
With planning complete, our experienced landscaping team begins transforming your vision into reality. We approach each project with a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and efficient project management. Throughout the construction process, we maintain clear and consistent communication, keeping you informed with regular updates and progress reports. Our goal is to ensure a smooth, well-organized build, so you can feel confident and excited as your new outdoor space comes together exactly as planned.
1-YEAR CHECK-IN
Our team will reconnect with you approximately one year after the completion of your project to ensure everything is thriving as intended. During this check-in, we’re happy to answer any questions, address concerns, and provide guidance on ongoing care. We will also arrange a convenient time to perform a complimentary fertilization of your garden beds, helping to maintain plant health and soil vitality. This follow-up reflects our commitment to the long-term success and beauty of your landscape investment.
Initial Site Visit
Our process begins with an on-site visit from our landscape design team, where we take the time to understand your property and overall vision. During this consultation, we’ll discuss your style preferences, functional needs, and how you plan to use your outdoor space. We also assess site conditions to inform the design approach. Using this insight, we develop a tailored concept that balances aesthetics and practicality, resulting in a landscape that is both visually appealing and perfectly suited for everyday living.
Master Plan Development
Once the overall layout is approved, we move into developing a comprehensive master plan complete with finalized landscape drawings and detailed construction specifications. During this stage, we guide you through the selection of materials, finishes, and plantings to ensure every element aligns with your vision. This may include reviewing samples and visiting local nurseries to see options firsthand. By confirming all details in advance, we ensure a smooth installation process and a cohesive, well-executed final result.
Hand Over To Client
Once the construction phase is complete, we will walk through the finished project with you to ensure every detail meets your expectations. This is an opportunity to review the work together, address any final questions, and provide guidance on how to care for and maintain your new landscape. Our goal is to ensure you feel confident and satisfied with the result. From this point forward, you can relax and fully enjoy your outdoor space, knowing it has been thoughtfully designed and expertly built.

Matt Over
President
Matt’s passion for landscaping began at around 13 to 14 years old, working alongside his father maintaining their family garden and neighbouring properties. Early experiences, like planting tulips in the fall and preparing bulbs for spring for Mother’s day, instilled a strong appreciation for timing, care, and thoughtful design.
At 16, he joined Plant World, where his interest grew into a full commitment. Starting as a yard worker, Matt gained hands-on experience across all areas of the nursery, working year-round and planting thousands of seasonal arrangements. He estimates having completed over 20,000 planters, each contributing to his skill and expertise.
After graduating from the University of Guelph, Matt moved into construction project management before specializing in landscape operations. He later founded Parkscape, building a company defined by craftsmanship, precision, and a passion for creating enduring outdoor spaces.

In the early 2010s, he partnered with Matt to build Parkscape. Together, they transformed it into one of Toronto’s premier design-build landscape firms, known for delivering refined, high-end outdoor environments with precision and consistency.
Today, James leads the design and client experience side of the business, bringing a sharp eye, practical construction knowledge, and an uncompromising standard to every project. His work is defined by clean execution, thoughtful design, and a commitment to building spaces that stand the test of time.
